Presentation by Milann Daugherty, editor "Your affectionate Son" Letter from a Civil War Soldier. The words of a young man from Bedford County, Pennsylvania who completed his basic training at Camp Wilkins outside Pittsburgh, in Lawrenceville, in 1861. Milann Daughtery will be at the Hollidaysburg Public Library May 30th at 6:30 p.m. or at the Altoona Public Library Friday May 31 at 2:00 p.m. The program is free and all are welcome to attend.

Families, please join us this morning for our annual PA One Book Every Young Child Celebration at 10am at the library. We have tons of fun in store! Please call the Youth Room desk at 946-0417 ext. 123 for details.

The 3 baby chicks that have been hatched have now gone to their new home. But, we still have 2 that haven't been hatched yet. In such a short time we became attached to the chicks. We will miss them, but know they have a good home.

Ever thought about doing Zumba? We are having an instructor from the YMCA come to demonstrate Zumba. Julie will also be showing the Zumba Gold, and talking about Silver Sneakers. Come on into the library and learn about Zumba. It is free and all are welcome to attend. It is from 1-2.

McLibrary Night 2012
The Altoona Area Public Library held their first “McLibrary Night” at Station Mall McDonald’s on March 8, 2012 from 5-8pm. The library was able to raise $597.18 through sales and tips. Activities included face painting, story time, and crafts. Both organizations wish to thank the community members who participated.
