Babies are born with an amazing ability to learn. The Altoona Area Public Library is pleased to announce the purchase of its new children's eSebco e-books that can be read on any Internet browsing device. The books are available to any patron with a library card and the books can be viewed by multiple users simultaneously. In addition, the titles are also read regularly in local elementary classrooms. The Altoona Area Public Library invites you to view the beautiful exhibit "ART is a Many Splendored Thing" made by Mr. William Eisenhart of Altoona. The exhibit includes found objects made into works of art, drawings, paintings, leatherwork, sculpture and more. If you love art, don’t miss this exhibit which involved hours of time to create. May be viewed in the foyer display cases on the Library's first floor through March 30 during regular library hours.

Altoona Library Teen Services is proud to host CareerLink which offers area teens career planning and employment services. The CareerLink offers several programs for youth ages 14-21: Journeys, Workforce Investment Act Year-round Programs, and the Summer Youth Employment Program. They currently have openings in these programs and will be available to talk with teens at the Library every Monday starting at 3:30. Please call 946-0417 ext. 129 for more information.

LIBRARY CIRCULATION DESK
The Altoona Area Public Library is taking applications for PART-TIME circulation desk positions. Candidate must have computer knowledge, problem solving abilities, and Customer Service experience with children and/or adults. Candidates MUST be able to work daytime, evening, and Saturday hours. Minimum wage. High school diploma or GED required. Deadline to apply – February 8, 2013.

The Youth Room at the Altoona Area Public Library is accepting donations of NEW hats, scarves, gloves, mittens, snowsuits, and coats. Sizes newborn to 4T, 5/6 or small.
Toasty Toddler is a project that provides warm winter outerwear for children birth through age four. The program is coordinated by the Family Resource Center at the United Way of Blair County.
Donations will be collected until December 7, 2012.
Please assist us in helping the young children of Blair...

October 15-19th is Teen Read Week. If you love to read, let us know! Vote for your favorite book or author by visiting the YA area of the Library. We will post your selections. We also have some great events going on:
