Allison Herbaugh, a Nationally Certified Counselor, will present information on children and adolescent mental health issues. During her 16 years in the counseling field, Ms. Herbaugh has worked in group homes, residential treatment facilities, psychiatric hospitals, and schools. This event will cover the myths and facts of mental health, available supports and treatment for children and adolescents, case studies, and the importance of parental involvement. This jam is for anyone who wants to learn more about ukuleles. Come listen to members of the Allegheny Ukulele Collective play songs, learn about how a ukulele works, and try your hand at playing some basic chords. People joining in for the jam part of the program should know the chords of C, F, and G7. Participants will receive a packet of 1, 2, and 3 chord songs to keep. Please come to observe if you are not ready to play yet! All ages welcome. No registration necessary.

The Friends of the Altoona Area Public Library will be holding a Friends Tea on September 19th at noon. Speaker Michael Allison, an artist and art advocate for our region for the last 45 years, will be presenting “Grimoires and Hexenmeisters: Folk Magic in Pennsylvania”. Allison will cover an overview of the history and origins of folk magic and its practice by immigrants to Pennsylvania. Refreshments will follow the program.

Girls in grades 6-12 are invited to join us for Girls Who Code: Cybersecurity.
