The Altoona Area Public Library will offer a Zentangle Class on July 13th at 6:00pm with Shelley Williams, CZT.  Zentangle is an easy to learn drawing method that uses simple, structured patterns to create a piece of art. The process of creating a Zentangle is a form of “artistic meditation” as one becomes completely engrossed in making each pattern. The class is $10.00 and includes the kit. This summer during the new Summer Learning, we’re featuring the Teen Reading Lounge in a new, six week, summer session. Each week we’ll explore a theme related to building a better world. We’ll also have a summer book club just for young adults, featuring the book All American Boys by Jason Reynolds and Brendan Kiely. Books will be provided to those who register. “Talk About a Good Book” Discussion Group, held every 2nd Monday of the Month will take place on July 10th at 6:45pm in the Alumni Room at the Altoona Area Public Library. July’s selection is “Another Brooklyn” by Jacqueline Woodson.

What you can do in your own home to have an impact on climate change and reduce your carbon footprint.

As part of our 90th Birthday Celebration, put on your blue suede shoes and come help us celebrate the Nifty 50’s. We’ll be rocking around the clock in the library Youth Room from 2-3pm. Children ages 12 and under are invited to attend as well as wear a poodle skirt or 50’s attire. Children will learn about famous people and events of the 50’s, enjoy crafts and participate in other activities. Registration is required. Call 814-946-0417 ext. 123 to register.
